CHINESE PORCELAIN SCHOLAR'S SCREEN

Famille rose enameled porcelain plaque decorated with tree peonies and a pair of Chinese golden pheasants sitting on a flowering tree, encased in a rosewood through-carved frame and stand.

Qing Dynasty, Yongzheng Period (1723-36)

CHINESE CARVED AGATE SEAL PASTE BOX

Chinese carved smokey agate covered seal paste box. The cover shows an exquisitely carved figure of a boy on a rock amid scrolling vines utilizing the original white skin. The imperial reign mark is shown, carved into the base.

Good condition, except for one fissure ending in a crack.

Varlegated Scholar's Rock

Brecciated golden-beige marble enclosing a carved piece of grainy pure calcite. This marble is very likely from a deposit quarried for hundreds of years in suburban Beijing. I.M. Pei used it in the construction of the Fragrant Hills Hotel near Beijing. The low relief carving depicts Butai.
